Coaching Information

We need parents and responsible adults to help coach our teams. In 2008, one of the determining factors to not split the JV Squad was due to the lack of experienced and trusted coaches to handle two separate teams. We have the potential to split both JV & Varsity Squads this year, but to do so we need your help...!

The time to commit to coaching is upon us. Coaching Developement meetings are already underway. In order to be able to hit the field, properly educated and knowledgable in the Wolfpups' system, we need you now! There are several requirements that must be accomplished prior to being allowed to participate as an on-field coach:

1. You must register. Please download the Coaching Application, complete and mail it in today.

2. You must clear a background check, which is part of the application process.

3. You must complete the on-line National Youth Sports Coaches Association (NYCSA) certfication course. The application fee is reimbursable when a copy of your membership card is submitted as proof of the certification. Start your certification HERE.

4. The SYFA Board must approve your placement on the Coaching Staff.

5. Attend the Coaching Developing Meetings and Workshops. Download and print the Activities Schedule to stay informed about the dates, times, and locations of these meetings and workshops.

With the exception of the NYSCA Certification, all necessary equipment, supplies and training are furnished by the SYFA and the Head Coach. You don't necessarily need to have a good knowledge of the game, but the willingness to learn and help develope these young athletes can overcome your lack of sport-specific knowledge.
